FORWARD THINKERS. FUTURE LEADERS. TEAM PLAYERS.

We are a group of case enthusiasts. With our passion for case studies, we established the University of Münster Case Club as a student initiative in August 2016. Our common goal is to unite students from all over the world at our University in an annual Case Challenge.

To achieve this goal effectively, we split our tasks into six divisions:

Executive Committee

Philipp Rothermel manages the affairs of our members.
Markus Leitschuh is representing the Case Club as first Chairman.
Lisa Janowicz focuses on financial matters.

Marketing & IT

Our experts in Marketing & IT manage the Club’s appearance on social media and its technical infrastructure. They build our brand and communicate our values.

Event & Logistics

Our experts in Event & Logistics take care of all event details. They take the long view to ensure our Case Challenges become unforgettable.

Case Writing

Our Case Writing team creates high quality case studies with our partners.

Sponsoring & Finance

Our Sponsoring & Finance division ensures a financially solid basis. They partner up with our sponsors, giving our Case Club the chance to grow consistently

External Affairs

Our Participants coordinators ensure that all attendees feel welcome from the start of their journey until the very finish line. They support the participating teams to be their best selves.

Internal Affairs

Our Internal Affairs Team takes care of our members concerns. Additionally, they organize presentation trainings, case cracking sessions, and social events throughout the whole semester.

CASE SOLVING IN MÜNSTER

Further, we strive to expand our personal competencies in case studies. We therefore offer training for presentations, analyze case studies ourselves, present them in front of other club members and give each other feedback. Thereby, our members learn to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-life business situations.

University of Münster Case Club e.V.

Motivated  by recent successes in international case competitions, a group of students joined together and founded the University of Münster Case Club in August 2016. Since then, it is our common goal to organize a yearly case competition in Münster and to strenghten case study teaching at the University of Münster.

Case Study Analysis is a course in the Bachelor’s Programme for business students in Münster.  Students get to know various concepts and tools to analyze critical business situations and issues. The course also conveys soft skills such as performing under time pressure, working in teams and taking on responsibility as students evaluate and present complex and multilayered business problems without sample solutions.

It is a special concern of the Chair of International Accounting to regularly draw students to international case study competitions. In order to improve the internationality and practical relevance of teaching, students take part in competitions in Ireland, Canada, Thailand and Norway in 2018. Further participations are shown in the overview below

Case Club members have participated AROUND THE WORLD

Hereby, we would like to thank our faculty, especially the Chair of International Accounting and the Institute of Management Accounting & Control. Thank you for making these experiences possible and sharing our passion for case studies.

Our Mission and values

Every Day and with Passion, we create a collaborative environment to promote enthusiasm for global business challenges and to foster networking among students.
Every Year and in Unity, we challenge the smartest and most ambitioned business students to develop innovative and applicable proposals for real-life business cases.
One Day and with lasting Impact, we will host Europe’s most prestigious case competition shaping the future – of our guests and ourselves.

Passion

A contagious desire, an inner drive, and a passion for case studies is what we share among each committee member. As we are truly convinced that the case study approach is the best way to prepare business students for the challenges of future leadership, we passionately spread the word about it. We fully devote our skills, time, and effort to create a collaborative environment and networking platform for those that share our passion.

Unity

Two heads are better than one: Building a trustful, enjoyable, and strongly bonded relationship allows great ideas to emerge in a powerful, profound and efficient way. As the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, individuals combine their unique talents in groups, resulting in more efficient solutions. To us, collaboration among participants is essential to peak a team’s performance. Therefore, we are convinced that there is only one way to experience the UMCC – in unity.

Impact

With our annual Case Challenge, we aspire real, long-lasting change for our participants and partners, the University of Münster, and ourselves. By gaining additional experiences each year, we strive to build a prospering case study culture among students and faculty. We enhance career networks and sustainable business relationships for our participants and partners. Our event connects diverse competences, perspectives, and cultures. Thereby, we boost business students’ professional and personal development with lasting impact.
